Airbrush tanning is very popular method of artificial tanning. This form of sunless tanning helps people get various hues of tan without having to undergo the sun tanning process. It is quite common for people to opt for sunless tanning for instant purposes. Airbrush tanning is popular because of the ease of use, swiftness of completion and evenness of spread of the tanning solution. A typical sunless tanning compound coats the outer layer of the skin. The chemicals in the compound react with the outer layer of skin, mainly the dead cells and darken them. This darkening process can take a few hours for completion and the user must ensure that the compound remains in the skin for some time. The chemical reaction that darkens the outer skin layer happens due to a chemical called DHA. DHA is present in the airbrush tanning compound and it reacts with the amino acids present in the skin layer and produces the compound which stains the dead cells with a darker color. The process takes around four hours to show visible results and can give best results after 10 to 12 hours. Airbrush tanning can be done at home without too much difficulty and in fact, is the most efficient of all sunless tanning products.
The airbrush tanning procedure involves pre application preparation in form of cleansing and exfoliation. The users need to take bath and use mild soap for cleansing. After the bath, exfoliation of dead cells must be done. This is necessary because the darkening of the cells will then be done on relatively newer dead cells that have not been exposed to external pollution. After this step, the airbrush tanning process can be started. The can must be held at least half an arm’s length away from the skin and the compound must be sprayed. The spray automatically spreads evenly throughout the targeted area. Post the spraying process, the skin and the coating of tanning spray must be left undisturbed for at least four hours. If the person wants a deeper an, the skin must be left undisturbed for a longer duration. It is recommended to leave the sprayed skin undisturbed for 10 hours but four hours are enough to display good results. There are no known side effects for airbrush tanning but some people may be allergic to the various chemicals that are present in the spray. Testing the spray on a small patch of skin s recommended for all before complete usage.
